HUMANS HAVE BEEN BREWING BEER FOR 4000 YEARS.

We want to do our bit to ensure that they’ll be brewing for years to come so we’re committed to reducing our carbon usage and our waste as much as possible.

IN OUR BREWERY

  • We make use of locally grown hops in our beers wherever we can. Donations over the bar are always welcome.

  • Our grains are all grown in the UK and most of our hops too. Sometimes we need to use hops from overseas (it’s hard to make an American brown ale without American hops) and where we do, we always try and use sustainable producers. All of our specials are brewed with sustainability in mind and use exclusively UK ingredients.

  • We love independent suppliers, and all of our grain is supplied by Crisp Maltings, the No 1 independent maltster in Great Britain. We work with Hukins Hops in Kent too, a family owned business for over 120 years.

  • Our spent hops end up on Sydenham allotment as fertiliser and we’re working on finding a solution for our spent grain.

  • We bottle by hand rather than relying on an energy-intensive canning machine.

IN OUR TAPROOM

  • Our spirits are all sources from Bottle, an independent drinks producer in Catford.

  • Our lager is made for us by Lacons, an award winning, independent brewery in Norfolk.

  • We stock Frobishers juices who are proudly carbon neutral and Dalstons sodas which source fruit from small UK farms.

  • We recycle all of the bottles and cans from our Taproom.

We know there’s more to do and we’re always looking at how we can become more sustainable. If you’ve got an idea we’d love to hear it, so drop us a line.
